A Letter from Jake re the Electro Flo 5000:
Dear Mr. Davis,
The portable percussor is truly remarkable! I personally thank you for designing and making an effective mucus-clearing device that I can use at home.
As a 28-year-old living with cystic fibrosis I’ve spent countless hours since my childhood doing chest physical therapy and consider myself a self-trained expert on the subject. In my line up of defense against my daily respiratory congestion I have found a new big-league starter – the Electro Flo 5000 percussor. It delivers the exact punch as the FLUID FLO pneumatic model, which is what the therapists use at the hospital, and it glides just as smoothly. Even though it is portable, the 5000 model gives nothing away in terms of efficiency and effectiveness.
In my daily routine, I have integrated the percussor 15 minutes twice a day, once in the morning and once at night, while breathing an aerosol mixture of hyper tonic saline and Albuterol. That, coupled with a regular 15 minute midday IPV treatment will equal 45 minutes of calculated daily CPT.
Thank you for being inspired to create this most valuable machine. I thank God for men like you who have recognized their talents and gifts and developed them so that they might benefit others. I’m one who will benefit from your engineering ingenuity! Bless you, Mr. Davis, and thanks for bringing the world the first portable percussor.
A Note from K.C. in St. Cloud, MN:
The Electro Flo 5000 Percussor has been awesome for me! I’m 41 with Cystic Fibrosis and have a very hard time clearing thick, dry mucus from my lungs. I’ve always had to use percussion therapy, but never had a percussor do the job like this one. As a matter of fact, I thought I was running out of options because my other percussors just didn’t cut it anymore. I knew I needed something with more power; something with more punch. After doing research and hearing about your product, I thought that’s it, that’s what I’m looking for. And when I tried it out during the month long trial period, I was amazed! It’s truly percussion with a lot of power to impact deeply. It is so much easier and convenient to clear my lungs as well as time saving. It’s the first thing I do in the morning for relief.
The other plus is the Electro Flo is portable and easy to take wherever I go.

“I am a 30 year veteran in the field of respiratory care including 20+ years working in pediatrics. We are currently using two ELECTRO FLO 5000’s in two of our units…the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and my Pulmonary Unit. Here we focus on the CF population, chronic ventilator patients and treat many asthma patients as well. Both areas absolutely love them. The RNs and the RT staff find these units are a life saver when it comes to performing CPT. The ELECTRO FLO 5000 is very effective and has greatly reduced the fatigue levels associated with vigorous CPT treatments.”

“I’m thankful that you have come out with a device to help with airway clearance. I am finding the Electro Flo 5000 a good compliment to using the vest product because often times when I’m done with a vest treatment, I can still feel mucous in my lungs. I then use the Electro Flo 5000 to focus where the congestion still remains and thus get even better clearance. This is especially important before going to bed. I also love the portability of this device! I have been bringing my vest on vacations but it’s so cumbersome. It’s really nice to now have an alternative airway clearance device that is both effective and extremely portable!”

I have one! I did a trial on it in January after I had pneumonia. I only use it at night. (I do 30 minutes of vest in the am and then in the pm 15 minutes of vest followed by 15 minutes of the Electro Flo). I LOVE it! I have no idea about pneumonothorax, but you could avoid that area if you are worried.
Two things I have noticed:

I have this and love it for same reasons Tiffa says. You can really zero in on certain areas, (if you can reach). I had a broken shoulder and could not use the vest so i got this and it was a godsend… plus my husband or PT at hospital can use it on me… great to travel with, (not as cumbersome as the vest)… Not sure about the collapsed lung part, but you can adjust pressure/speed for sensitive areas… there is a video I will try to find and send you. They were great about working with us for insurance so I can help you with that maybe if you need.
